Back in the saddle

After a good start I've taken the last two weeks off from running due to some rather bad calf pain I had been dealing with for about a week. I chatted with a couple of friends and they suggested taking some time off, eating a bit more and going back in gently. The pain has all but gone now and I've been getting a bit frustrated at not going out.

Last night I rode my bike into work. Did my usual half hour time. For the first time I decided to have endomondo on my iphone while i listened to the radio (only 1 ear of course) on the ride. Was quite weird having a female computer voice updating me on my progress every kilometer!

As this evening went well I intend to go for a little 3 mile jaunt tomorrow morning when I get home from work and do a few like that before going back up to 10 milers again.

Lastly, nice one Mike Matthews! Ran a half marathon on monday. You can see more about him here: http://www.marathonnewstv.com/?f=Michael+Antony&l=Matthews&n=1.

Toodles!

Time To Bring It!

Okay so about two weeks ago I received notification from the lovely Alanah over at the Scope Event Team that my application had been successful and if I wanted to I could run the marathon as part of Team Scope! Ecstatic, I accepted immediately!

I was on nights at the time and we had a busy run that week so training was neglected. Again the next week was the run up to Christmas staying with the in-laws so there was much indulgent sleeping in, eating too much and perhaps a few lemonades each evening :P

Back at home again now and it's time to BRING IT! I woke up at 5 this morning to get my miles in before work. Twas difficult as I have not done any exercise for weeks. I was aching from very early on but I got round my little 4.6 mile course in 43 minutes. I know I can do better and hey, this is the start of the next four months!

I look forward to getting faster, and running greater and greater distances with great ease than today. I am really looking forward to raising tons of money for a really great cause! Thank you in advance to everyone for all your support and donations and an especially HUMONGOUS advance thank you to Becki who will no doubt be wonderful in looking after my aches and pains as she has been before.

IT'S ON!!
